Early

As I'm planning on going for drinks tonight I thought it might be smart to post beforehand ;-).
I took this one September last year. The sun was setting and I have the perfect view from my balcony (well balcony, 30cm by 4m). They were just sitting there, posing for me :-).

Easter 2007

Last year, Iuliana and I went to Romania for easter. It was the first time for me to celebrate the orthodox easter. I must say it was very impressive. Before having the night mass for easter, everybody would go to the cemetery and put candles on the graves of the people they knew or were related to. In the end, the whole graveyard was lit by thousands of candles. It was truly beautiful. So much so that I missed the most important part of the mass taking pictures...

Boat warming

A couple of years back, I went to a boat warming party of some friends of a friend of mine (Floris, who, by the way is a digital artist. You can see (and buy ;-) ) his work here. Thinking of it, I have some really cool pictures of him. I'll have to check with him, but if he let's me I'll put those up here as well). It was a warm summer evening at the end of june and I had taken the camera with me obviously. Everybody had a good time. Ow, by the way, this is not the boat in question.

Autumn

In October 06, we went to the castle of Gaasbeek with my brother and his girlfriend. It was very nice and worth visiting if you haven't seen it yet. Nice bit of forest surrounding it. As it was in autumn, there were plenty of mushrooms popping through the fallen leaves everywhere. As usual you can find the iPhone wallpaper version here.
Yes, I know, it doesn't show the picture... Some problem with blogger, I'll upload it tomorrow.

Edit: Owkay, so it turns out it wasn't a problem with blogger after all... I seem to have tried uploading the psd file by accident, which explains as that one is about 14 Mb instead of 480 Kb.
Anyway, here it is after all.

Number 20!

Hurray! We've made it to post number 20 without too much trouble. This one was taken, believe it or not, smack in the middle of Brussels. In the park next to the Abbeye de la Cambre. (Hope I spelled it correctly) Very worth while visiting, say on a Saturday afternoon, when taking the GPS for a walk ;-).
As usual, you'll find the iPhone version here

Oostende harbour by night

Sorry for not having posted this weekend, but I was otherwise occupied.
Anyway, for todays post I've taken one of the pictures that the ones that know my deviantart profile will already have seen. It was taken when we went to the seaside with Iuliana's cousin. Again, rather horrid weather, but we had a very good day. I took it when it was already dark and the last fishing boats were returning to harbour for the night. Hope you like it!

Choo Choooooo

This one is taken in the train station of Ghent at, I think, about ten in the evening. I had nothing to do and was bored sitting home watching the same things on TV so I got on the tram and headed for the station for some experimentation.

Misty mornings

This one I took one morning in my sister's backyard. Well, not really hers, but the field next to it anyway. It was around 7 in the morning. On a Saturday if you can believe it :-). The morning mist had not yet been burnt off by the sun and it resulted in some very nice pictures.

Rainy days...

This one I took last year when we went to the seaside with Mihai. It was freezing cold and raining. We had a good time though and I took several very nice pictures, if I say so myself :-) Enjoy!

One of my all-time favorites

I took this picture in juli 2005 and it is one of my personal favorites because it is the first picture I took that gave me that WOW feeling when I saw it on my screen. It was taken at the baptism of the first child of a friend. I had gone into the church to do some test shots before the ceremony was supposed to start and accidentally took this one. Way to little exposure, but I liked what the tiny screen on my cam showed me so I kept it and changed the settings to ones more suitable for the ceremony. When I got home, I was very glad I hadn't deleted it. Hope you'll like it as well!

Experiment

I'd sent the link to this blog to a colleague of mine before the weekend and after seeing my pictures, he suggested reformatting my pictures so they might be used as wallpapers for iPhone. He runs iphonetunes.net, a site containing all possible info for this amazing little gadget which I've obviously been drewling over ever since Steve Jobs first announced it. So for today's post not one, but three picture from my steadily increasing archives which I think would make a nice wallpaper for all those iPhoners out there.
The first one, I took on a photo trip I went on with a couple of friends in Brugge, she walked by and I couldn't help but snap away :-). The second on is also in Brugge, but when I went there with Iuliana and her cousin (yes, the same one that took me fishing). The weather was quite horrible to be honest, cold and rainy. We passed over a bridge and the umbrella floated by *snap*. and the last one I took when I did the pictures for my sisters wedding. I was taking a quick break when I saw the sun hitting this nice refreshing drink so *snap* again.
Hope you like them and Robin, try them on your iPhone and I'll pass by later to see how they work on the small screen. (iPhone versions: Image 1, image 2 and image 3)
PS: if they do work nicely, I will have to do something to make them more inkeeping with the rest of the blog instead of linking to picasa, but that's for later.
For those of you that need a howto on getting them onto your iPhone or iPod touch, go here.

!

Damn, missed my post yesterday... Had a late birthday party with all the family so didn't have the time when I got home. Yeah, I know, excuses excuses. So I'll post two today, problem fixed :-)
This one I took when we went with my brother and his girlfriend to the seaside, De Haan to be more precise. Everybody always says that when taking pictures, make sure the sun is behind you. Well, I didn't, being the little rebel I am ;-) and look what came out.

Norway

As the title says. This is Norway, Ringmoen to be exact. About an hour and a half driving from Oslo. We went there for the first birthday of my best mates' youngest of three daughters (yes, poor him) :-) and obviously, I had my camera with me.

In the nick of time

I made it barely again, but I've been able to post every day up until now. This will likely be the last one from the greenhouse as you're probably getting bored by the subject by now. Not quite sure what I'll do next... We'll see :-)

Thursday 15 May 2008

No title required

Oops, nearly didn't make it today, but here we are after all.
Thought I'd do a black and white conversion for a change. Again, from the greenhouse. Hope you like it!

Wednesday 14 May 2008

Ow yes, again!

As I've told you in my previous posts, I've taken loads of pictures on both our visits to the Royal greenhouse,  so here's one from the second trip. This time it was during the day, so again, the light was not quite as perfect as I'd liked, but what can you do? In the end I'm quite happy about the way it turned out, and that's what counts, innit? :-)
On an entirely different note, a mate from work asked me to test his Nikon Coolpix S200 for him since he wasn't too excited about the results he's getting with it, so expect some of those pictures to make an appearance here soon.

The royal greenhouse (part III)

And for today's picture; the royal greenhouse, again ;-). When I saw this, I just had to take a picture (actually, I took four just to make sure I'd have a decent one since I hadn't taken my trusty tripod along). I just love the way it turned out. The colors are simply amazing to me and they're not even that tweaked... Hope you like it as much as I do.

The royal greenhouse (part II)

Yes, a second post mere minutes after the first... I took 222 pictures yesterday, so posting only one seemed like such a waste. Expect more because I have a couple of others that may get edited.
This would be Albert II's back garden. Can you see him on his lawn mower?  I tried a square crop for this one and I'm quite happy with the result. What do you think?
(Yes this is a very subtle hint for your comments ;-) )

The royal greenhouse

Yesterday, in the evening, we went to visit the royal greenhouse in Laken. There was a special nocturne, but that started only at 2000h so it was just a little late for that perfect sunlight I was hoping for ;-) . Nonetheless it was amazingly beautiful. So much so we're going to go there again in about an hour from now ;-) so I think it's a safe bet there'll be several more pictures coming from there. This is the royal palace at Laken for those of you who don't know it.

Iris day

Today, because of "Iris day" cars were not allowed inside the inner ring of Brussels, giving me the chance to take this picture without having to fear for my life :-)

Saturday 10 May 2008

Who needs to catch anything...

This is another one from the fishing trip Mihai and I went on and seriously, who needs to catch anything if he has this to look at. It was a great day for beautiful clouds so I just sat there end enjoyed the view more then actually checking for bites. Wouldn't you?

Friday 9 May 2008

Kermit

This one I took on the same fishing trip as the dandelion. The pond we went to was full of these little guys. You can not believe how damn noisy they get. Glad I don't have any of these for neighbors.

Effort...

I was thinking, since I managed to not post anything yesterday I'd try to make it up today.
I took this picture two days ago on the way to pick up Iuliana from work. (She had actually pointed out these nice tulips on the way home the day before.) It's the Anspach fountain you see in the back for those of you that know a bit of Brussels. Anyhow, I hope you like them as much as we did :-)

Well, there it is then...

Finally, I have decided to join the blogosphere and, though it's called The DAILY fix, I've also managed not to post anything on the first day. Yup, we're off to a good start, but I've found it a bit more difficult then expected to come up with anything witty to say.
Anywho, let's get on with it:
Welcome to The daily fix! My personal photoblog, which, as the name says is going to be updated with at least one new picture a day and maybe, if I have more or feel like it, some more, who knows. At least that's the plan.
On to the first picture. I've returned last week from Romania having spent 10 days there to celebrate Orthodox easter. Which was very nice by the way, the weather was very good, the food was delicious and abundand as were the drinks and, most importantly, I got to take loads of pictures :-)
This one was taken on a fishing trip I went on with Iuliana's cousin halfway through the week. I took some others there as well that have yet to be edited but will soon be making their appearance here. It's some what of a lucky shot with my macro, but I'm very happy with the result. Hope you like it as much as I do.
