Winter in Piatra

As I've said before, it's snowing here. Yesterday we had a beautifully sunny day, but today, snow again. :-) I guesstimate about 30 cm has fallen until now.
I took this picture on the walk from Iuliana's parents' to her aunt and uncle's place.

Here are two pictures I took today :-).
Merry Christmas to all of you!!!

Went for croissants this morning. :-)
Took my camera with me and shot this little beauty :-)

Sunday 14 December 2008

Here's a second one... this is actually what was at my back when I took the earlier one.

Place Royale

Went to place royale to take this pano. 8 exposures.

Saturday 13 December 2008

Another morning lit scene :-)

Did this one the same morning as the panorama.
Enjoy!

Thursday 11 December 2008

Brussels in the morning; a panorama of 15 exposures

I was up early this morning and took these with the intention of finally doing a panorama.
I'm very impressed by photomerge! The full resolution picture is 17021*3039 (yup that's 51 MegaPixels for you :-) ) and 158 Mb as a .psd or 21 Mb as a .jpg. :-s

First of all: THANK YOU SINTERKLAAS!!

Yes it seems I've been a good boy this past year! Students studying technology at accredited online schools will be jealous of these presents. I got a Wacom Bamboo 1 tablet and a ColorSpyder Express from the old man.
I couldn't be happier :-)

Another test

This is one of the 'towers' of the fortress in both jpg and png format. anybody spot any differences? :-)
The iPhone version here is only png.

Wednesday 3 December 2008

Lighthouse

The lighthouse of Cabo Sao Vicente. picture taken from the Fortress in Sagres.
For test purposes, this is a PNG file instead of a JPG. I'm trying to see if there's a quality difference that makes the larger file size worth the switch...
iPhone version here (also PNG).

That holiday feeling

Thought I'd treat you all to a nice sunny picture in these dreary times of 'winter'.

Abandoned

We passed this ruin on one of our walks in Lagos. I really liked it so I snapped a couple of shots.
The iPhone version is here.
PS: all editing for this and the previous picture done in the new Camera RAW and PeeEss Cee Ess Fore , which totally rock!

The church, another view

This is also the church in the Fortalezza do Sagres. I really like how dramatic the sky turned out above the white of the church walls. Hope you like it as well! The iPhone version is here as usual.

Another one with the adjust

This one was also done with the Adjust plug-in.
Let me know what you think!

New plug-in

I've been playing around with a new plugin I've found called adjust. It's from Topaz Labs and I must say it has potential, but it does require further experimentation. What do you think?

Please leave me comments on your feelings about it.

Church in the Fortalezza do Sagres

On the one cloudy day we had, we went to the fortress in Sagres. There was a lovely little church there and I was lucky to get this shot without any of the bloody tourists in it ;-).

Us... and our shadows...

On the way to our hotel there was this little spot overlooking the beach. I saw this images and had to snap a picture of it! It came out just as I'd hoped :-)

More beach

Another view of the gorgeous beaches of the Algarve. I really loved it there the nature was stunning.
The iPhone version is here.

Where my beaches at?

I obviously couldn't help myself taking this picture as we passed by. I quite like the result and like the title to go with it :-)

Tram 28

The famous tram 28. We waited for nearly an hour to get on this famous little tram, after which we gave up. This was the one heading in the opposite direction.

Botanical garden

This is the entrance to the botanical gardens of the university of Lisbon. It felt slightly neglected but I quite liked it. Too bad it was closed so we couldn't go in.

And we're off again :-)

My sincerest apologies for not posting for such a very very long time!! I had a bit of an editor's block. I tried to edit a couple of times but was never quite happy enough with the resulting pictures. Any who, that being said; We're off again!
The first picture is in Lisbon in one of the many parks there.
And there's the iPhone version as well of course

Sagres coast line

This is another of the many pictures I took in Sagres. We spent the whole day there, so I had the time to take loads. The iphone version is here.

Monday 15 September 2008

Loads of pictures :-)

The fismarket in lagos:
The coastline in Sagres, the western most point of Europe, or as one German called it, the last sausage shop before America. Ow and that little orange blob on the right is a small restaurant where we had a drink. Great views from the terrace!:
View over Lisbon with the castle of St. George in the background:
One of the many beautiful avenues in Lisbon:
A really weird looking tree in a park in Lisbon:
One of the many steep roads of Lisbon, it's fun and pretty, but dayum!:
This was also in Lisbon, but I don't remember exactly where ;-):

Updates! read all about it!

Check both Pretty natural and Architectuality for updates! :-)

Yes! He's back!!

Ok, after a long absence I'm finally back! The reason for me not posting was my holiday in sunny Portugal (took almost 2000 pictures so expect loads of them in the near future :-) ) where internet comes at the delightful price of € 5 per hour and we rather spent that on cocktails ;-). Anyway, in other news, as I can not really make any divisions in this blog on it's own, I have started two new ones which are of course linked to this one. You will find their links to the right ;-). One, Architectuality, deals, as the titles says with architecture photography and the second, Pretty natural, with nature in all aspects, ranging from landscapes to makros. As soon as I post on either of them I'll post an update here as well.

Fountains in the park

This is the park right next to the central station in Brussels. I went there last year to test the new lens I had received for my birthday from Iuliana. This is one of those test shots.

Monday 18 August 2008

Phalaenopsis

Iuliana is completely crazy about them. We have about ten different ones right now, of which three are in bloom and another two are about to flower as well. She's been asking me to take pictures of them for quite some time. So here it is!
The iPhone version is here.

iPhone wallpaper pack 1!

Yes, here it is! After a suggestion form my good friend Robin from iphonetunes.net, I have taken the ten best iPhone wallpapers from this blog and created my very first iPhone wallpaper pack for your enjoyment. All you have to do is click here to download the zip file. I hope to be doing one every month with my personal monthly top ten!
Many thanx to Robin for hosting them for me on iphonetunes.net

No title

I took this one on the same beautiful evening I took the one of the Anspach fountain. Hope you like it :-)

Ow sow pretty...

On the same trip to Amsterdam with Stijn, we happened upon a pond that had this floating in it :-). Even though I had come to take pictures of the architecture in the area I couldn't pass up a nice kodak moment. I would also like to take this opportunity to tell all my disappointed viewers that I'm really sorry for not having been very regular of late, but I have been a bit busy on a side project I'm working on ;-).
The iPhone version is here as usual.

Road trippin'...

Yesterday, my good friend Stijn did me a huge favor and gave me a lift to Amsterdam. More specifically to the Bijlmer where I wanted to take pictures of the new train station that's been built there. It was a very nice trip and I'll definitely be going back to the area as there were loads of other really cool buildings to get lost among.
I took this picture right after we arrived. Hope you like it.
The pictures of the station itself are on my Flickr page.

Wednesday 6 August 2008

Something else...

On the day I took the picture of the cathedral, we went to a fairly new shop near the Grand Place which sell a huge variety of olive based products and other mediterranean goodies (herbs, pastry and pastas). I really like the way the store is decorated and thought I share my impression with you :-). By the way, the stuff they sell is really tasty so if you have a chance, hop in and have a look around.

Sunset over Brussels once again...

Yes, I do like the fact that our apartment is facing west, especially now in what seems to become sunset season :-). Three of them at once, because I REALLY like them!

Swings in a storm...

We've been to Knokke yesterday and though the weather could have been better, the storm clouds in the distance did make for quite an impressive view. Somewhere along the beach someone had put two swings, right on the waterline. I liked the image, hope you do as well...
