La Sovata

After the mountains we went to a salt water lake spa resort called Sovata. Sun was bathed, beer was drunk and food was sampled. Lovely!

Ceahlau

It had to happen at some point. After years of seeing it in the distance and claiming I could hike to the top if I wanted to, this year I actually did. It was a lovely but hard trek from 800 to 1800m. Well, it was for me anyway ;-). Cursing occurred on many an occasion. But I made it to the top and took some lovely pictures along the way. This particular one is a pano of 20 shots. Approx. 270°. I really like how it came out. Hope you like it as well.

Sun rays over mountains

As I was working on the panorama in the previous post, I noticed that this picture looked quite nice when under exposed by two stops. So this morning I did that edit and this is what came out! I'm very pleased with the outcome.

On the other side

This is the view on the side opposite from the previous picture. It's a panoramia composed of 17 hdr's based on 5 exposures each so basically it took me nearly half the day to get this result. The final tif file ended up at a whopping 1.25 Gb! :-s As with the previous picture I've uploaded a large-ish version to my skydrive for better effect.
Hope you like it, because I am quite happy with the result.

Yes another year has passed by with its ups and its downs. I wish all of you the very best for 2010 and that it may be a better year then the previous one!
This picture was taken as you can probably guess in Romania and the ones of you that have been following this blog a little bit, will even recognize the location :-)

Time for an update

This one is taken in Romania the last time we went there and is from the last batch taken with my Nikon. It's on the same day that we went to Lacu Rosu and these are the cliffs of Bicaz.

On our last day in Piatra, we went for a delicious bbq :-). Along the lake this time. The same lake as the one in this shot. Different position and less snow :-)

Winter in Piatra

As I've said before, it's snowing here. Yesterday we had a beautifully sunny day, but today, snow again. :-) I guesstimate about 30 cm has fallen until now.
I took this picture on the walk from Iuliana's parents' to her aunt and uncle's place.

On my mind

I don't know why, but I've been thinking about this picture several times today, so I thought I'd post it. I took it one night in Bucharest at the Orthodox version of Vatican. Please forgive me for not knowing the name and feel free to add it in the comments. Any who, I took it without flash on my tripod and I'm obviously very happy about the outcome. No iPhone version of this one as the landscape format really doesn't make sense for an iPhone.

Exceptions...

Today for once, a picture which was not taken by myself. I did the post processing, but Iuliana took it when she was at home last week. She went with her parents and her aunt and uncle to their (aunt and uncle's) cabin in the mountains. As they arrived, it had just rained and when the sun came out, this appeared :-)

Yup we beat Romania by 2-0! I know, "You should have given them the win..." No we shouldn't have :-) we already played with most of the top players on the bench so nah! :-) Anyway, back to the business of this blog. As I've said earlier the reason I haven't posted the last couple of days is that I was in Romania for the baptism of our godchild. I had a really great time! Lots of drink, food and dance :-). Ow yeah, this is her, isn't she gorgeous? :-)

Chilly sunbath

For Christmas last year, Iuliana an I went to Romania (obviously). We visited her grandmother and round about sunset I went into the garden to take some pictures. This is what I found, sitting in the last bit of sunlight in the icy cold (it was about -15°C).
