Layered perspectives

Sardinia again, on the way to the hotel from the beach on our second evening there. The sunsets we saw on the island were magnificent, but I'll get to those in a later post. For those of you interested, it's an HDR of five exposures from 1 raw file with a bit of magic sauce afterwards. The iPhone version is here.

Tramonto in Sardegna

And thus, we finally arrive at the pictures of our second week of holiday which we spent in beautiful Sardinia. Seriously, if you ever have the chance go there! It's truly wonderful.

Dusk is a difficult time to shoot.  New York State colleges have online classes in photography to learn new tricks.

Sun rays over mountains

As I was working on the panorama in the previous post, I noticed that this picture looked quite nice when under exposed by two stops. So this morning I did that edit and this is what came out! I'm very pleased with the outcome.

Man's best friend

Also from our trip to France.  Pet owners, veterinarians, and students in vet tech schools will especially enjoy this photo. She was walking with her owner down the beach while he was digging holes with some weird looking contraption. I loved the way she just sat down and waited.

Bully Bokeh

I've been experimenting a bit this morning. On our trip to France I noticed the can of red bull which reminded me of an article I read a while ago about a bokeh filter. One thing led to another, shoe boxes got mutilated and voilĂ , the result of the first batch of experiments.
Another thing I've tried in this one is adding a signature. Let me know what you think about it :-)

Crimson beach

Both the previous pano and this one have been taken with Stijn's Samsung digimax A50.
For this picture I set it to the appropriate "Sunset-mode" which turned it more red. It's a bit over the top, but I do quite like the result I have one more that I'll probably post later.
For now, off to the beer-fest on grand place :-)
Ow yes, the iphone version is here as usual.

Time for an update

This one is taken in Romania the last time we went there and is from the last batch taken with my Nikon. It's on the same day that we went to Lacu Rosu and these are the cliffs of Bicaz.

Medinilla

This is one of Iuliana's favorites. She keeps asking how it's doing when she is in London. Well here is the proof that it's doing more than fine, thank you! :-)
Took this one with Marcus' Nikon Coolpix S200.

Oh the irony

Today I was supposed to have a job interview at Pepsico in Zaventem. I said supposed because my daily life seems to not have lost it's sense of irony. I was going to take the 1142h bus to Zaventem to arrive there at 1221h which was expertly timed as the interview was at 1230h. As I get to the busstop I see a manifestation coming up the street towards me and in the direction the bus was supposed to take. So basically I missed a job interview because a manifestation for jobs blocked the bus for almost an hour.
Any who, I took this picture as I walked back home using my trusty cellphone :-)

Bad news and new ideas

I've been to visit Iuliana in London this past weekend until this morning, which was a load of fun!
The only thing that was not quite so much fun, hence the bad news in the title, was that while waiting for the Eurostar check in to open, my camera bag and with it, all of my equipment got stolen. This, as you can understand was not one of my best days.
But on a happier note, I have promised myself NOT to let this stop me from taking pictures and proving to myself and the rest of the world that my motto of: It's a poor workman that blames his tools, is true.
So, after getting over the initial shock and feeling of loss, I started using my cellphone's camera as my first experiment towards this aim. This is the first of what will be a lot of experiments to prove that it's not merely the camera that takes good pictures. In order for me to do this, I'm planning on asking people around me to let me use their camera for a day or so, to take pictures and to post them here, until I have saved enough money to replace my lost equipment.

Wonderland daddy!

As we were walking here a young girl was shouting to her father: "We're not in Holland daddy, we're in wonderland!!"

Flora urbana...

This is one from the same day as the ones in the botanique.
I usually don't do square crops, but for this one I've made an exception as it fit the subject and composition quite nicely.
The iPhone version is here. It has been stretched so as to fit the screen, but I don't think it's giving any bad effect on the image.

Experimentation...

This morning I've been experimenting a bit with our palm tree.
I liked this one the best. I know It's a bit abstract and all that, but I was quite happy with the composition and the way the light seems to radiate between the leaves.

All by itself...

And this was how I found the daffodil in the previous shot, standing all on it's own (well nearly anyway).

Easter part II

Since we were on the topic of easter in the previous pic, I thought I'd continue :-)
I took this one today and was very happy with it :-)

iPhone wallpaper pack the second!

Hello and welcome to the second installment of the iPhone wallpaper pack!
As you would probably assume, I keep track of the traffic on my little piece of the interweb and the first pack is one of the most popular pages so I've decided it was high time for a new one to keep all you iPhoners happy. Again, it contains ten wallpapers selected from the steadily growing number of wallpapers on this blog.
I would, again, like to thank Robin for being so kind as to host it on iphonetunes.net and he also deserves my thanks for being this months top referrer to my site! So thank you Robin!!

And we're back

Hello my faithful and patient audience :-)
After having moved to another appartment, and having to decorate it (painting, painting and ow yes, some more painting) I'm finally back at the wheel of this thing :-)
Anyone who is in a similar position may want to look into having Article Writing Services write content for their site.
This picture was taken on our holiday in Portugal and after having painted the bathroom in a very nice, if not a little dark, blue, I remembered it because I might get it printed on canvas for the whole marine theme that's going on :-)
The iPhone version is as usual, here.
